I THOUGHT I liked it- simply because my mind was conditioned to think I had done something RIGHT, GOOD and what GOD wanted me to do. I dreaded it on the inside, I hated getting up on Saturday mornings... but after I got there- forced myself to project to total strangers... I would feel pretty good come break time. It was like a weird placebo effect... I really did think that God was happy with me, so this eased my conscience as if I had somehow "bought" a bit more of Gods favor for everlasting life. Erghhhhh I hate thinking of all now. I stopped going out at the beginning of this year and I have never felt happier in my life to have my weekends to myself. First time ever!!!

"You Can Do Just Enough Ministry To Dislike It"
by pale.emperor inwhen you were "in" did you ever actually enjoy the ministry?
and i made no secret about it.
instead i would joke about me feather knocking, and made sure i had my bible in hand so as they come to the door they know what im about so they can shut me down before i even start.. i always wondered how or why there were people who enjoyed it.

Publisher death nail.
by Chook ini have done this exactly as quoted more than once.
i ask elder if it's better to hide serious sin or reveal, of course we know the answer.
then i ask them to explain elders book page 38 paragraph 19, which say it's sometimes ok for elder who has committed immorality and has kept it secret to continue serving as elder.

This little above mentioned clause in the elders book is when the walls started crumbling down for me. I started to wake up- I started to see just what was going on----> and I am ever so thankful to be OUT of the CULT that JW's are.

Joseph and his generation
by maninthemiddle inso the wt used ex 1:6 to define a generation from the very beginning.
then in the this september broadcast the same person (splain) who spent 20 min with charts to explain a generation, makes a point that joseph and his brothers were very close in age?
(min 4:29).

It's that he doesn't realize what it means for something he was saying himself in front of the camera not even a year ago that make it interesting.
I caught that same line and wondered if he realizes how he is contradicting the overlapping generations argument... Did you also notice how he was just rambling? Nothing made sense! (Not that it ever does) but this one was very peculiar...

Warning: Watchtower computer dept. registers accounts on Ex-JW sites, coerces people to divulge their personal details
by WTS Archive inwe had a bad experience with watchtower trying to infiltrate our forums.
let this story be a warning for all you guys here.
if you value your privacy do not ever send your real contact details to anyone, even if you trust them (because their accounts could be hacked or accessed by their relatives - and yes, this happened to people i know several times already).

It's just another example of Theocratic Warfare; where it's quite ok to deceive and lie to people for the sake of Kingdom advancement. And its very sad that even here, we need to be careful. But for the sake of our freeness of speech, it would be wisest course to always keep our personal details out the posts we make
Agree with you NoZombie! Unfortunately- you can't really trust anyone unless you know them (in person)

To be fair, let's think about how much the Governing Body encourages members to spy on one another. There's been many a magazine article with photos showing us just how its done! It is totally plausible that they COULD very well know about this- but turn a blind eye and feign ignorance or (as they typically do) use out right denial.
They seem extremely uptight towards the so called Apostate community as of late... hmmmm I wonder why?
Although I do believe in the "lone wolf" theory- I would never put it past this organization to use whatever it's got or takes to try to eliminate threats to themselves. They are the BEASTS they portray in their literature.

Paranormal Warning
by Cold Steel ini've heard some weird stories coming from jws about the paranormal.
i know about the warnings about items that come from unbelievers -- those don't interest me as much.
what i am interested in are actual experiences in stories of the paranormal you've heard or experienced yourself.

Coldsteel:
Pareidolia---- in essence, the ability to see faces in objects. Our brains are hard wired for facial recognition. I can look at any pattern and see faces, animals, ugly or pretty- depending on the patterns and depending on my frame of mind at the time. If I am telling myself that I am looking for "faces and or demons" in a window or picture of an old window... well, by golly- I will see just that. Our minds are fascinating and have incredible capabilities! Whether or not demons actually exist- is irrelevant when the MIND can make them and anything else REAL to you. With that being said, some people say NO there is nothing supernatural- they have told themselves it is not possible or plausible. Others are open to it- and SEE more and believe more. Who really is right?
Hmmmmm.... ;)

I agree that the stories were rampant back in the day. In the mid to late 70's everyone seemed to be on a demon-kick (Not just the Witnesses, everyone---> now that could be due to Hollywoods obsession with it at the time) We all know that the 70's put out some of the freakiest scariest pieces art, movie, theater etc. I still cringe to think I had to grow up in such a time... thank god the 80's rolled around. ;) My point is: YES, I heard all the JW urban legends and we were scared to death of demons. I think so much so that we may have THOUGHT something or someone was attacking us when, in AWAKE retrospect, I actually think it was paranoia. Our minds were constantly being conditioned of the dangers of demons, smurfs (lol) and anything that the GB didn't want you to look at, but knew YOU WOULD. Good old reverse psychology. That way- you became more and more dependent on THEM.
Whether or not demons are or are not real is not something I even dwell on these days! I am too busy enjoying being free from the micro-management of the WT Corporation.
The most SCARIEST pictures and ideas were planted in my head from the very material that was supposed to make me feel safe and secure... Go figure?
